At ESTHERS Australia we respect every womans right to have a child. For women who live with a learning difficulty or intellectual disability, the choice to give birth is often met with a lot of negativity. In almost every case Child Safety Services become involved. Our service offers guidance and advocacy to help navigate this often very confusing time for our clients.

Our service offers up to 2 hours a week free support to any woman facing challenges during pregnancy and within early parenting however, often clients living with disability require more time than this to grasp strategies and to develop crucial skills that will give them the best shot at preventing removal and keeping their child in their care..

We work with women who are NDIS funded and are self or plan managed.

We use “Parent Asess” - ParentAssess is a referenced assessment framework in the Good Practice Guidance 2021. The assessment has been specificially designed to identify a woman’s capacity to parent. Working together with the Support coordinator, Support Workers and other services involved, we identify weaknesses and strengths. - and help develop strategies that best serve each individual woman - ultimately our goal is to keep the family together.
